Research Track Pathology Resident, MGP Fellow
Emory University
Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Lalit joined Emory University in July 2023 as a Resident in Emory's Research Track Pathology program to pursue a physician-scientists career that brings together genome sciences research with the practice of Molecular Genetic Pathology (MGP). With the mentorship of conformational chromatin biologist Victor Corces, Lalit is developing a research program that investigates the role of chromatin hubs in dysplastic and neoplastic phenotypes that develop following somatic acquisition of structural genome variants. During the 2025-2026 academic year he is undertaking an out-of-sequence MGP fellowship between PGY2 and PGY3 of Clinical Pathology residency. He has taken a proactive role as a trainee in efforts at Emory University Hospital to develop and onboard molecular testing intended to keep pace with the system's growing diagnostic needs. Lalit also serves as a Junior Member on the CAP Histocompatibility and Identity Testing committee, has learned much about molecular testing for rare germline disorders as a participant in the NORD "Diagnostic Odyssey" Working Group, and is an External Scientific Advisor for the Medical Research Awards Program at the Marcus Foundation. When away from the lab he enjoys yard time with his dogs and wade fishing with his wife.
