Dr. Weck is Professor of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and Professor of Genetics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Medical Director of the Clinical Molecular Genetic Pathology Laboratory for UNC Hospitals. Dr. Weck served as President of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) in 2020. She is currently Co-chair of the AMP Professional Relations Committee and Co-chair of the AMP Clinical Practice Committee Pharmacogenomics Working Group. Dr. Weck serves as the College of American Pathologists (CAP) liaison to the National Academy of Medicine Roundtable on Genomics and Precision Medicine. She received a CAP Distinguished Service Award in 2018 and the AMP Jeffrey A. Kant Leadership Award in 2022.
Dr. Weck has authored over 100 peer reviewed articles, invited editorials and book chapters related to molecular diagnostics and genomics. She is a longtime member of the editorial board for the Journal of Molecular Diagnostics. Dr. Weck has been co-investigator of several NIH-funded grants to implement exome/genome sequencing for diagnosis of genetic diseases. She has been co-investigator of institutional clinical trials to study the clinical utility of pharmacogenomics guided therapy and of the UNCseq tumor sequencing study to implement genomic sequencing for somatic mutation testing in cancer. She has served as a consultant or advisor to numerous commercial and professional organizations.
