Debra G. B. Leonard, M.D., Ph.D., is professor and past chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Health Network. She is a leading expert in molecular pathology and genomic medicine. Dr. Leonard did her undergraduate education at Smith College and her medical and scientific training at New York University and is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, and by the American Boards of Pathology and Medical Genetics in Molecular Genetic Pathology. She has been on the faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Leonard Her national leadership and service was recognized by the Association for Molecular Pathology Leadership Award in 2009 and the College of American Pathologists’ Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. She is editor of three molecular pathology textbooks and has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters and reviews.
