Anna Lewis, DPhil., is an investigator at Brigham and Women's Hospital (Division of Genetics) and Harvard Medical School. She is a bioethicist with a main focus on the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) of genetics and genomic technologies. She received her doctoral training in Systems Biology (University of Oxford) and worked for several years in the genetics industry. Her research is focused on the ethical implementation of genomic medicine for all. Much of her current work focuses on navigating ethical issues arising with the clinical use of polygenic risk scores and the genomic sequencing of babies. Her work is always done in close collaboration with scientists and healthcare providers. She is a member of numerous national and international ethics advisory and policy-setting groups. She is co-founder and co-director of the Broad Institute Bioethics Initiative.
