Dr. Heather Blankenship is the Genomics Technical Director for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Laboratories and board certified in Molecular Diagnostics (HCLD(ABB)). In her role as a senior manager at MDHHS, she has worked to develop the genomics infrastructure within public health to strengthen the use and knowledge of molecular epidemiology through the utilization of next generation sequencing processes, bioinformatics, genomic epidemiology analyses, and integration of these efforts into public health action. Over the course of her career, she has been cross-trained in microbiology, bioinformatics, and epidemiology, and is passionate about leveraging her cross-training to connect these diverse fields.
