Assistant Professor
Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine
Jieun Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Soonchunhyang University College of Medicine, specializing in molecular pathology and genomic diagnostics. Her clinical and research activities span both germline and somatic variant testing, with a particular focus on developing and optimizing next-generation sequencing workflows for precision medicine. She also leads bioinformatic analysis pipelines integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and structural variant data to support clinical decision-making in oncology and hereditary disease diagnostics.
Dr. Kim is currently interested in advancing non-invasive molecular testing, including liquid biopsy and circulating nucleic acid–based approaches, to enable earlier detection and real-time monitoring of disease. In addition, she is working on incorporating AI-driven analytics and automated interpretation tools into the clinical sequencing workflow to improve accuracy, scalability, and turnaround time. Through her work, she aims to bridge translational research and clinical application to deliver more accessible, data-driven precision diagnostics for patients.
