Debopriya Chakraborty, PhD is a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellow at the Laboratory for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology (CGAT) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). Born and raised in India, she earned her Integrated Master of Science degree in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata and a PhD in Pathobiology at The Pennsylvania State University. She joined as a postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Pathology at DHMC starting June, 2024. As part of her responsibilities in the fellowship, she is gaining experience working in a clinical laboratory setting, with extensive training in molecular diagnostic testing-focused independent and collaborative research. These DNA and RNA-based testing methods cover a broad range of disease areas, including genetics, infectious disease, oncology and hematology, and utilizes state-of-the-art automated techniques such as PCR, real-time PCR and Next Generation Sequencing in molecular biology, and microarrays and FISH in cytogenetics.
In her doctoral program, she presented her research at several national and international conferences, and published two first author research articles, among others. She received a competitive grant and a scholarship as parts of her accomplishments in graduate school. She had also received several awards including the Best Poster award at one of her departmental symposiums. She had also served in several committees including Graduate Women in Science. In her fellowship till date, she presented oral and poster presentations in 4 conferences, received trainee awards and submitted 2 first author manuscripts for publication.
