Dr. Zhihong (Joe) Zhang served as Burning Rock's Chief Technology Officer and General Manager, US since March 2016. He has many years of experience in genomic research and product development. Prior to joining Burning Rock, Dr. Zhang was a staff scientist of Illumina, Inc., and a senior fellow of Howard Hughes Medical Institute and University of Washington. He obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Fudan University in 1997 and 2000, and a Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics and microbiology from Duke University in 2005 In Illumina R&D, he participated in multiple microarray and sequencing product development activities. In Burning Rock, he had led the company R&D team to implement next-generation sequencing technology in translational medicine and to further develop in vitro diagnostic products including therapy selection, minimal residual disease, and early detection. The related works also have been published in top tier journals including Nature Biotechnology, Cancer Cell, Annals of Oncology, and Nature Biomedical Engineering.
