Lead Scientist
ARUP Laboratories
Huyen was born and raised in Vietnam. After earning her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, she came to the University of Utah in 2006 to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry. She then obtained two postdoctoral trainings focusing on Plant Genetics and worked as a Research scientist at Montana State University studying algae for biofuel production. Through these research experiences, she has developed a unique skill set that combines “traditional” wet-lab cell biology with “dry-lab” bioinformatics and genomic analysis. Since joining the R&D Genetics group at ARUP Laboratories in 2022, she’s been focusing on the validation of genetic tests to detect pathogenic germline variants.
