My name is Oscar Escobar and I am a Medical Laboratory Scientist with over 16 years of experience in clinical laboratory science and a decade of specialized expertise in Molecular Diagnostics. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical laboratory science at Rutgers University.
I am the Section Head of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, where I lead, in conjunction with our medical director and our Chief Technologist, a team dedicated to advancing precision medicine and improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge molecular testing.
As an ASCP-certified Molecular Biologist, I have played an important role in implementing high-complexity assays, optimizing laboratory workflows, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Driven by a passion for laboratory science and community health, I have progressed into management roles, where in combination of technical skills with strategic oversight, our molecular laboratory has contributed to the development of diagnostic tools that address health disparities and improve access to care.
