I graduated medical school from Cairo University in Egypt, afterwards I worked as a research assistant at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. I started pathology residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, followed by 2 fellowships. The first fellowship was in Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida and it was a hematopathology fellowship followed by another molecular pathology fellowship in the Cleveland Clinic. Since then (2023), I have been a faculty member at the University of Minnesota
