I am a clinical lab scientist senior specialist at the UCLA Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (MDL). At MDL, I lead the next generation sequencing (NGS) section which specializes in high complexity molecular diagnostics test that assists in patient diagnosis and treatment decisions. In my role as the lead, I perform a wide variety of duties for the clinical test we offer in exome sequencing, hematology panels, solid tumor panels, and microarray. These duties include development of new test procedures and technical review and monitoring of existing procedures. I played a significant role in the implementation of new MDL tests such as the 1080 gene Pan-Cancer Panel, 221 gene Hematologic Malignancy Panel, and 156 gene Solid Tumor Fusion Panel, which improved the lab’s diagnostic capabilities.
