Michael Liew, PhD is a Research and Development Scientist at ARUP Laboratories. He has worked at ARUP for over 20 years and has validated and improved assays for clinical testing. The types of methodology used has been varied and includes: flow cytometry, genotyping by melting curve analysis, digital imaging fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and mutation detection by capillary electrophoresis. Prior to joining ARUP, Dr. Liew worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Utah where his research focused on neurofibromatosis, and a pre-doctoral fellow at the University of California San Francisco where his research focus focused on the diffusion of small solutes in the cytoplasm of erythrocytes. Dr. Liew obtained his PhD from the University of Wollongong, Australia. He has published over 20 scientific papers.
