Dmytro Shapochka is a genetic counselor and a molecular biologist at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital and DILA Medical Laboratory (both in Kyiv, Ukraine). He has worked in cancer genetics and molecular pathology since 2013, being among the first experts in this field in Ukraine. Dmytro has participated in the development and implementation of many molecular tests for cancer patients in various labs of the country. Since then, he has been an active campaigner for this type of testing and its significance in oncology, sharing knowledge among young biologists and pathologists just entering the field.
His current professional activities are focused both on genetic testing and counseling of patients with hereditary cancer syndromes and on molecular pathology tumor testing for therapy personification. Besides, Dmytro is now creating the first Ukrainian molecular pathology training program aiming to expand the general access to testing and to improve its quality countrywide.
