Yun Bao, Ph.D.
Dr. Yun Bao brings over 20 years of experience in molecular diagnostics, specializing in qPCR, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), and clinical assay development. She has a strong track record of leading innovative projects from concept through product launch.
As co-founder and Head of R&D at Avida Biomed, Dr. Bao was a key inventor of the Avida capture technology and led the development of the Avida DNA, Methyl, and Duo target enrichment kits. Her work advanced core chemistries in NGS library prep, target enrichment, bisulfite conversion for methylation analysis. At Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), she led the Genomics product development team, building a comprehensive NGS portfolio. Earlier, at Verinata Health (now Illumina), she contributed to the development of the Verifi® NIPT test, a pioneering cfDNA-based prenatal screening assay. Dr. Bao also led qPCR assay development at Life Technologies and Pall Corporation. Now at Agilent Technologies, she continues to drive innovation, contributing to multiple IP filings in advanced NGS technologies. Her deep expertise in molecular assay development and methylation analysis supports impactful collaborations across oncology, prenatal testing, and precision medicine.
