Dr. Lockwood is a Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and Adjunct Professor of Genome Sciences at UW Medicine in Seattle, Washington. She serves as Division Head of Genetics, Director of the Genetics and Solid Tumors Laboratory, and Clinical Director of the Northwest Genomics Center. After obtaining her PhD at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Lockwood completed postdoctoral fellowship training in Clinical Chemistry (DABCC) and Clinical Molecular Genetics (DABMGG) at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Since completing training, she has been active in the design and implementation of educational resources related to training in genomic medicine.
Her clinical interests include the development and application of molecular methods for detecting genomic alterations in prenatal genetics, genetic disease, hematologic malignancies, and solid tumors. National laboratory compliance and regulation has been an area of focus and she has served on the CAP's Molecular Oncology Committee.
Dr. Lockwood's editorial responsibilities include serving as an associate editor for Clinical Chemistry Journal and as guest editor for special issues of Clinical Biochemistry and Practical Laboratory Medicine. She participates in multiple research studies, including several cell-free DNA projects, the Seattle Flu Alliance, and the NIH AllofUs program.
