Jason Walker is a Bioinformatics Manager in the Clinical Genomics Laboratory within the Division of Genomic & Molecular Pathology (GMP), Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. With more than two decades of experience at one of the nation’s leading academic genomics institutes, he brings a uniquely cross-disciplinary background spanning molecular biology, computer science, management, and information systems.
Jason leads the Bioinformatics team, which develops and supports resources that enable high-quality genomic testing, translational research, and education. His group provides data analysis and management for GMP clinical assays, supports LIS integration for patient-care workflows, and partners on research data sharing and publication. The team also maintains specialized hybrid-cloud infrastructure for assay metadata and ensures operational compliance with CAP/CLIA standards.
A strong advocate for bioinformatics education, Jason integrates teaching and mentorship into daily laboratory practice, helping faculty, fellows, and technologists gain practical insight into data analysis, quality management, and informatics systems. He continuously promotes shared responsibility for bioinformatics literacy across clinical and research settings—advancing precision medicine through collaboration, education, and innovation.
