Dr. Sura is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Cytopathology, and Molecular Genetic Pathology. She completed her pathology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, followed by fellowships in Cytopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
As a practicing clinical pathologist, Dr. Sura is dedicated to advancing diagnostic laboratory medicine and translational research. Her work centers on optimizing molecular testing strategies for minimally invasive specimens and studying the influence of pre-analytical factors on RNA sequencing quality in oncologic cytology. She is also focused on enhancing cytopathology laboratory workflows, including validation of non-traditional specimen types and development of rapid molecular testing approaches.
Dr. Sura serves as the Executive Officer of the Translational Research Program for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, where she helps to guide the development, execution, and integration of molecularly driven oncology trials and biomarker strategies.
