Richard K. Yang, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomical Pathology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he serves as Program Director of the Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship. His clinical practice focuses on molecular diagnostics for solid tumors, with an emphasis on next-generation sequencing applications in oncology. Dr. Yang completed his MD and PhD degrees, as well as Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by Select Biomarker and Molecular Genetic Pathology fellowships at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
In his current role, Dr. Yang oversees the development and interpretation of molecular assays that guide precision cancer therapy, integrating genomic data into clinical decision-making. His research interests center on the molecular epidemiology and clinical outcomes of colorectal and other solid tumors, with particular focus on RAS pathway mutations and emerging targeted therapies. He has published in leading journals and regularly contributes to national collaborative efforts in molecular pathology.
Dr. Yang is an active member of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) and other professional societies, and he is committed to advancing the field through education, mentorship, and collaborative science.
