Description: The complexities of genomic testing and their implications can be overwhelming for an individual with cancer, with laboratory reports often confusing and technically complex. The goal of this AMP Working Group was to report complex genomics data but also improve patient understanding of the testing performed and how the results impact their treatment. This session will describe their approach to developing a guideline-concordant yet more patient-friendly NGS biomarker report, along with the opportunity to provide feedback.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the challenges patients face when reading their NGS biomarker report.
- Evaluate ways to incorporate simplified reporting language and structure into genomic reporting for oncology testing.
- Describe approaches to reporting that can assist patients to ask informed questions of their provider and understand the clinical implications of their results.
