Description: The landscape of somatic mutations differs based on pathological diagnosis. Due to the complexity and cost of genomic analysis, resources in sequencing and clinical interpretation should be allocated to regions of the genome with the highest level of clinical actionability. This session evaluates benefits of physical tumor-specific sequencing panels and the development of virtual tumor-specific panels for clinical interpretation as whole exome sequencing and broader panels become feasible.
Learning Objectives: - Experience with subanalysis of clinically relevant genes from a broader genomic backbone - Experience with validating and reporting genome-wide patterns (TMB, MSI, mutational signatures) in a large NGS panel
